It doesn’t work on my old Packard Bell 7041. After the fix (!) the issue is still there: faked connection with indicated llow speed and no internet coinnection.
Maybe your network requires manual configuration (ip, mask, gateway and dns)? Check your connection “internet protocol version 4” properties.
